If for an excursion through Montenegro can be said that is showing the core and heart of Montenegro, its most valuable cultural, historical and religious heritage, then it is certainly this excursion.
On this excursion you can find out more about the famous Montenegrin dynasty Petrović Njegoš. We will present to
you the life and work of the great ruler and poet, Peter II Petrović Njegoš. Cetinje, formerly the center of Montenegro, today the cultural, historical and spiritual capital of the country with numerous cultural monuments, among which are the most significant Cetinje monastery (in which two great Christian relics are stored – the hand of St. Jovan the Baptist and the particles of the Holy Cross of the Lord), the palace of king Nikola, billiarda as well as numerous museums, then the birthplace of the great dynasty Petrović – Njeguše, with the gastronomic specialties of Montenegrin cuisine, as well as one of the most significant monuments of our country’s history and culture – the Njegoš mausoleum on Lovćen within the beautiful national park Lovćen.
- Day of the excursion: monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday.
- Departure from Tivat at 08:00 hours. After a short drive, you will be amazed by the old road built by AustroHungarian citizens in 1879 to connect Kotor and Cetinje, the old royal capital. It has 25 serpentines, standing by the way for photography and enjoying the beauty of the Boka bay.
- Refreshments and tasting of specialties from Njeguši are planned in the small mountain village called Njeguši,
which is located at 900 m above sea level and at the same time has great historical significance, because represents birthplace of the ruler of the dynasty Petrović – Petar II Petrović Njegoš. You will visit Njegoš’s house, which was turned into a national museum in 1973. Arrival in Njeguši is planned at around 09 hours and 30 minutes. We stay here for 1 hour. - After visiting the small mountain village of Njeguši, we continue our journey to the mausoleum on Lovćen, which is located within the national park Lovćen. Arrival is planned at around 11:00 hours. You will have 1 hour and 30 minutes free to visit Njegoš’s mausoleum and enjoy one of the most beautiful views you can experience in Montenegro.
- Then we continue to the old Montenegrin capital Cetinje, where we will be at around 13 hours and 30 minutes. During your free time of 1 hour you can visit the king Nikola’s palace, which is full of authenticity from the period of he royal family, Cetinje monastery that represents the beacon of Montenegrin centuries-old struggle for freedom, he relief of Montenegro, billiarda – the residence of bishop, prince, famous writer and philosopher Peter II Petrović Njegoš. It is named after a pool table that Peter II bought in Vienna. In this house, Peter II conveyed his thoughts on paper and wrote a masterpiece the mountain wreath, as well as numerous museums: the ethnographic museum, he history museum, the art museum …
- The excursion continues with a visit to the lipa cave where the arrival is planned at around 15:00 hours. On the way to the cave, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view of Skadar lake, then in the camp will equip us with raincoats. A tourist trolley will take us to the entrance to the cave, and from there a walking tour of about 60 minutes. We will enter about 250m deep into the cave accompanied by a guide, which will show us the amazingly beautiful forms that nature itself performed.
- Return to Tivat via Budva. Photopause in Brajići, from which you can see the Budva riviera, which with the peninsula of St. Stefan and the beaches, makes the pearl of the Adriatic coast.
- Return to Tivat is planned around 18:00 hours.
